Chicago based, post-rock band Tortoise have announced plans to tour this spring and summer. The trek begins in Buffalo (NY) on May 29 and visits nine cities including New York (NY), Los Angeles (CA), San Francisco (CA) and home city Chicago (IL) before winding down in Philadelphia (PA) on July 20. The quintet is promoting their new album, "Beacons of Ancestorship," which is due to be released on June 23. Fans have waited for a long time for this full length album of original material since their last venture, "It's All Around You," which was released in 2004. Even though the band has had two releases in between, neither were original compositions. Apart from the acts in this tour, various band members also collaborate with other acts including Isotope 217, Brokeback, The Sea and Cake and Eleventh Dream Day.
