June 10, 2009 Green Day Announces North American Tour in 2009

Green Day has announced a tour of North America in 2009 before heading off across the Atlantic for a European leg of the tour. The tour begins July 3 in Seattle (WA) and hits 38 cities in the US and Canada before wrapping up on Aug. 25 in Inglewood (CA). The cities on the itinerary include Vancouver (British Columbia), Saskatoon (Saskatchewan), New Orleans (LA), Salt Lake City (UT) and Las Vegas (NV). The trio- singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool- are promoting their latest studio release “21st Century Breakdown,” which hit stores on May 15. This album is their first studio effort in the last five years. Their previous album “American Idiot,” released in 2004, had debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart.

Paul Potts Returns to the US on a Tour in 2009

Winner of the first season of Britain’s Got Talent, Paul Potts will return to tour in the US in July. The talented opera singer will be promoting his upcoming album, “Passione”. Potts will start of on the 6th in Texas and will finish up on the 21st in Washington DC, hitting nine major cities through the month. “Passione” is Paul’s second record on which he has recorded a mix of opera pieces and two original tracks. The album was recorded with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and also features a double act with New Zealand soprano Hayley Westenra. The British tenor hit fame after he impressed the judges and audience alike with this recital of “Nessun Dorma” from Puccini’s Turandot. His debut album, “One Chance” ran for 11 weeks on the Billboard’s European Hot 100 Singles chart and has sold over a million copies in the United States.

Rock the Bells 2009 Festival Series

Hip-hop festival Rock the Bells has publicized the sixth edition of the annual hip-hop festival, adding Busta Rhymes, the GZA and the Knux to the line up. The tour will start late in June near Chicago and will cover 10 important cities, from coast to coast. It will finally wrap up in Mountain View, CA on 9th August. Started in 2004, Rock the Bells aims to bring together the country’s most popular hip-hop artists through festivals. This time Nas, The Roots, Damien “Jr. Gong” Marley and KRS-One will perform among many others. Apart from music, the tour will also feature KRS-One’s Temple of Hip Hop which produces distinctive fan familiarity. It also tries to grow hip-hop culture by inviting guest speakers. Workshops, art displays, lectures, and book signings are also held as per Guerilla Union, a festival promoter.
